The Certified Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing patient charts to ensure proper and accurate coding. They are responsible for interpreting the medical information and confirming the appropriate ICD/CPT codes are assigned. The Certified Medical Coder is also responsible for knowing coding systems, including CPT and HCPS; reviewing all claims data to ensure the assigned code(s) meet required legal and insurance rules; working with insurance companies and healthcare providers to resolve coding issues; and communicating with providers to ensure they have the most current and accurate information to correctly chart. 
Qualified Candidate will have a High School Diploma, or GED, and minimum two years of medical coding experience. Medical Coding certificate required. Medent experience strongly preferred. Must be able to communicate clearly, be highly organized, demonstrate responsibility, show attention to detail and be able to work accurately with minimal supervision. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, addiction and LGBT issues, essential.
