Destigmatizing STI and HIV testing, treatment and prevention

April is STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) Awareness Month. STIs are a common medical issue that many people don’t think to get tested for regularly, either because they don’t have visible symptoms or because of the stigma and fear surrounding STIs. STIs can happen to anyone who’s sexually active, and by age 25 half of all Americans will have experienced an STI. Since many STIs can have no symptoms, the only way to know if you have one is to get tested.

Getting tested regularly for STIs and HIV doesn’t just empower you to take charge of your health and to care for the health of your community: it also reduces the stigma around STI and HIV testing, treatment and prevention for all of us.

STI and HIV testing

Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing and HIV testing is fast, easy and confidential at Evergreen. You don’t need to be an Evergreen patient to receive STI and HIV testing, and same-day appointments are usually available.

If you test positive for an STI or for HIV, we can begin discussing your treatment options right away. You can always count on our team to be understanding and non-judgmental.

HIV prevention

Evergreen is Western New York’s leading provider of PrEP, the medication that when taken as prescribed greatly reduces a person’s chances of acquiring HIV. PrEP is affordable for everyone at Evergreen, and most people who see an Evergreen provider and use our pharmacy pay $0 out of pocket for PrEP.

We also offer PEP, the medication that can prevent a person from acquiring HIV after recent exposure to the virus.

Free safer sex supplies, including condoms, lube and more, are always available at Evergreen – stop by any location for as much as you need.

Full-service pharmacy

The Pharmacy at Evergreen is open to the community, not just Evergreen patients. We specialize in medications that treat and prevent STIs and HIV, including PrEP and PEP. The Pharmacy at Evergreen offers free home delivery in all 8 counties of Western New York, refill coordination, free consultations with pharmacists and more.

Supportive services for people who are living with HIV

Our caring providers understand the unique health and wellness needs of people who are living with HIV, and we’re here to help people living with HIV get the support they need to focus on their health.

Our services for people living with HIV include transportation assistance, housing assistance, health education & engagement, nutrition assistance, and support for people who are aging with HIV.
