Employee Spotlight: Fatai Gbadamosi, MD, chief medical officer

February 20, 2025

Fatai Gbadamosi, MD, chief medical officer at Evergreen Health, oversees medical and clinical functions within our primary care facilities and specializes in internal medicine. Well known by most as “Doc” or “Dr. G”, he has been a champion for removing barriers to quality and affordable healthcare here at Evergreen for nearly two decades.

Dr. Gbadamosi joined us as our first full-time physician back in 2005 when Evergreen was known as AIDS Community Services and has been at the forefront of breakthroughs and treatment in medical therapy for HIV and other STIs/STDs. His work to break down stigmas surrounding HIV and AIDS treatment and prevention has been felt for years and is shared by our employees who have always welcomed everyone and believed patients should never have to be anyone but themselves to receive the care they need and deserve.

As one of the longest-tenured leaders driving Evergreen’s mission and vision, Dr. Gbadamosi ensures every patient is never rushed during an appointment and has always been a go-to resource for employees and patients. He truly embodies our core values and is well known for his sense of humor, ability to listen and amazing memory.

When asked to describe Dr. Gbadamosi, Helene Cacciato, a registered nurse at Evergreen, said with a smile, “Doc treats every patient like family and can connect with everyone. He is compassionate, empathetic and able to educate people because of his expansive knowledge. I am grateful to have worked alongside Doc for 20 years as we’ve overcome every challenge furthering our ability to support the community unconditionally.”

Dr. Gbadamosi’s leadership has enabled us to expand our services beyond HIV care to advance health equity for all Western New Yorkers who have been underserved by the healthcare system. When he began at Evergreen Health, we served 315 patients, and he continues to play an integral role in carrying out Evergreen’s mission to foster healthy communities and expand services to over 27,000 patients annually.

Teaching the next generation of clinicians for over ten years, Dr. Gbadamosi oversees Evergreen’s teaching facility program and affiliation with the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine, in addition to several other local schools.

He is also among several leaders spearheading the Evergreen Health and Community Access Services (CAS) Ken-Bailey Project, which aims to build a comprehensive healthcare center at the corner of Kensington and Bailey Avenues. This project will ensure that inclusive, judgment-free health care is accessible to more people in the community while working toward the long-term goal of eradicating health inequities by providing unconditional care.

Dr. Gbadamosi graduated from the University of Ibadan College of Medicine in Nigeria and was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Moving to New York City from Nigeria in 1999, he completed his residency at New York Columbia-Presbyterian, Harlem Hospital Center.

Dr. Gbadamosi was recently recognized as a 2025 Buffalo Business First IDEA Award honoree, an award that celebrates champions of diversity and inclusion in their workplaces and in the community, in addition to being recognized as part of the 2024 Power 100 Business Leaders of Color list this past fall. We’re so proud to have him on our team!
