Buffalo Pride Parade and Festival June 2

Proceeds support the mission and programming of the Pride Center of WNY

BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo Pride organizers are putting the final preparations in place for the Pride Parade and Festival taking place this Sunday, June 2 and sharing necessary details to ensure safety and fun for all. The theme of this year’s events is “Now’s the Time.”

The mission of Buffalo Pride is to uplift the LGBTQ+ community by raising awareness and providing access to diverse events that bring people together in the spirit of celebration, advocacy, and community engagement. Proceeds from the Pride Parade and Festival support the mission and programming of the Pride Center of Western New York, an affiliate of Evergreen Health.

The celebration is hosted by Evergreen Health Foundation, an affiliate of Evergreen Health, and is presented by Evergreen Health and M&T Bank.

Pride Parade – Sunday, June 2, 2023, 11 a.m.

Step off at Elmwood Avenue and Forest Avenue

The Pride Parade travels south on Elmwood Avenue, starting at Forest Avenue and ends at Allen Street. Western New Yorkers who cannot attend can view the parade via live stream thanks to the presenting media sponsor, WKBW, online at https://www.wkbw.com/ starting at 11 a.m.

Pride Festival – Sunday, June 2, 1 – 7 p.m.

The Pride Festival is a vibrant celebration of Western New York’s LGBTQ+ community that features entertainment, family-friendly activities, food and beverages, live performances, and nonprofit and retail vendors. Tickets are available for purchase online at https://buffalopride.org/. General admission tickets are $10 if purchased in advance online or $20 if purchased on the day of the event at the festival’s entrance or online. Individuals aged 15 and under are able to attend the Festival free of charge.

Please see the Festival FAQ, which includes a list of items NOT permitted at Canalside concerts and events, including any item deemed inappropriate or dangerous by security, weapons of any kind, backpacks and large tote bags (diaper bags and small purses are permitted – no larger than 12″ by 12″), illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, fireworks, glass containers, outside food or beverage, including coolers, all professional video and photo cameras, recording devices, selfie sticks, tripods or monopods, umbrellas, laser pointers, air horns, animals (unless a service animal), or bicycles (within the secure perimeter).

The safety and security of our LGBTQ+ community, allies, volunteers, parade and festival goers, sponsors and vendors are the top priority for event organizers. Evergreen Health is working closely with the Buffalo Police, University Police at Buffalo State, VISTA Security, AMR, and Canalside management to help ensure everyone’s safety during the Buffalo Pride Parade and Festival.

Ideal time for interviews will be 8 – 11 a.m. before the Parade during float set up at Buffalo State University located at 1300 Elmwood Ave. Media can park in lots G 20, 21 and 22 and meet at the Evergreen Health volunteer tent.

 

Pride Festival

If you would like to attend the Festival, please enter at the entrance marked with the pink star on the attached map. You’ll have the opportunity to shoot videos and take photos. Interview opportunities may be limited.
