The new site creates a platform for promoting all Pride Week events hosted by allied groups across the region
BUFFALO, NY – April 18, 2019 – Buffalo Pride Week has launched a new website – www.buffaloprideweek.com – to provide a public marketing tool so all organizations and businesses hosting a Pride event have an opportunity to promote their events to a large audience. Buffalo-based branding and strategy agency, Block Club, designed the site. The clean design and colorful graphics create a welcoming community space to serve as the main resource for Pride Week, which takes place May 28 to June 2.
“The mission of Buffalo Pride Week is to uplift the LGBTQ+ community by raising awareness for and providing access to diverse events that bring people together in the spirit of celebration, advocacy and community engagement,” said Justin Azzarella, vice president of community development, Evergreen Health. “The growth of Pride Week over the past few years has been tremendous and we knew we needed to make sure we are staying true to the spirit of the event. The new website was created to align with this mission and better meet the needs of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.”
Evergreen Health and the Pride Center of Western New York have been the long-time presenters and hosts of Buffalo Pride Week. As the celebration grew to multiple events spanning five days, some events benefitted more than others from the marketing efforts and strengths of the two organizations. Evergreen Health will maintain the new website.
“We needed to re-evaluate how we were presenting Buffalo Pride Week to every single person in our region,” said Azzarella. “Every Pride Week event is important and people can’t attend an event if they don’t know about it or have the information they need. Having a website that’s available to everyone is a great way to encourage even more organizations to participate in Pride Week and provide a platform for those who need more resources to get the word out.”
Evergreen reached out to their partners at Block Club to pitch the idea for the new website and the agency agreed to donate its services to create the new site.
“When our partners at Evergreen approached us about a new Buffalo Pride Week website it didn’t take us very long to say yes,” said Patrick Finan, co-founder and principal, Block Club. “Block Club supports the LGBTQ+ community and this website is a great way for us to play an important role in promoting the spirit of Pride Week as we continue our efforts to create an affirming community for all LGBTQ+ people in Western New York.”
People who visit the website can see a comprehensive list of events – from family friendly to club parties – with dates, times, locations and more. Any organization, business or group that is planning a Pride Week event and would like to submit it for inclusion on the website can visit the Events page to learn more. The website is a way to showcase how robust and diverse Buffalo’s Pride Week is to a broader audience.
As of April 18, these are the Pride Week events included on the website:
This year’s Buffalo Pride Week is sponsored by M&T Bank and Evergreen Health. The Pride Parade and Festival are being presented by the Evergreen Foundation, an affiliate of Evergreen Health.
Evergreen Health fosters healthy communities by providing medical, supportive, and behavioral services to individuals and families in Western New York – especially those who are living with chronic illness or who are underserved by the healthcare system.
