Community Access Services to Host Free Backpack Giveaway and Community Fair August 2

Evergreen Health affiliate distributes hundreds of backpacks each year to the community

Buffalo, N.Y. — Community Access Services (CAS) will host the annual backpack giveaway and back-to-school community fair on Friday, August 2 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. located at 3297 Bailey Avenue. CAS hosts the free backpack giveaway each year to ensure students have access to needed school supplies as they prepare for the upcoming school year.

The community event will feature kid-friendly activities, including an obstacle course, video game truck, community resources, information tables, free food, music by DJ Tru Journey, rapid HIV testing for adults, and much more.

“The 2024-2025 school year is quickly approaching and we look forward to the backpack giveaway each year to ensure students have access to necessary supplies for a successful return to the classroom,” said Kim Brown, executive director for Community Access Services. “We are proud to support the community by connecting families to a wide range of programs and services.”

The giveaway is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out. The child must be present at the event to receive a backpack. Each backpack includes pens, pencils, paper, crayons, markers, a ruler, and scissors.

The backpack giveaway is co-sponsored by Molina Healthcare.
